This video essay explores the references that helped me re-frame my practice throughout my Masters Degree, as well as trying to position myself within. The video shows the printer in motion as well as the printer going through the process of copying. I felt that it was important to have the printer present in this video as it is the principal media that used in my studio practice.
The end of the video represents the information being processed and (re-)shaped, as a metaphore for my practice.
The video’s layout can seem a bit ‘chaotic’ but it is on purpose. This represent the way I feel about it all, the fact that I have a strong interest in all of these references and practices, and how they overlap, interact, blend and connect. The idea of ‘simultaneity’ is also discards by this process. The overall visual aspect of the video is black and white, looking quite low-res sometimes. This is again in relation with the aesthetic of my principal medium, the printer/copier.
