bio
Amandine Forest-Aguié is a Franco-Ivorian graphic designer and lecturer whose practice engages with Black history, experimental publishing, and typography. Her work operates within a Pan-African context, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting with identity. Within the field of graphic design, her approach revolves around print formats and typography, treating the book as a cohesive entity where content, form, layout, paper, and binding merge to create a unified identity that engages the reader. The significance of her work lies in its process: the unseen, the illegible, and the unwritten. Her design practice involves a constant interplay between research, archives, and writing—drawing from art and history to inform contemporary design. Her work emphasizes absorption and understanding of deeper concepts rather than superficial aesthetics, fostering innovation rooted in historical and cultural authenticity.
Amandine’s approach prioritizes purposeful design, where every element serves an intentional function. Her designs aim to challenge conventions, provoke thought, and reconnect audiences with their cultural narratives, offering new ways to see and experience the world through design.
